The full name of the band is Mélisande [électrotrad] and they are a melding of traditional and modern music in the popular folk-fusion style

Led by Mélisande and her accomplice Alexandre ‘Moulin’ de Grosbois-Garand (a former member of Genticorum, another great Quebecois group), the band has delivered daring and unique artistic performances to the folk-world music scene since its debut in 2014.

Their first two albums were hailed by critics from home and abroad. The group has done shows in many countries and with its infectious energy and engaging stage presence, the band gets the crowd stomping, dancing and singing wherever it goes.

They are back in Australia to appear at The National Folk, Blue Mountains and Port Fairy Festivals, so we’re lucky to get them.

  • “A creative fusion of tradition and innovation that honors the past while re-interpreting it for the present. If this is the future of folk, we’re in good hands.”  POP MATTERS

  • “Wow that was just incredibly impressive!”  ABC CANBERRA MORNINGS

  • “Without a doubt, Mélisande [électrotrad] stole the show at the 23rd New World Festival last fall.”  Kevin Dunwoody, Musical Director, New World Festival, VT
