Gleny Rae Virus + Karl S Williams Sat 9th May 7PM “brilliant double headline”
Gleny Rae Virus:
A country girl with an international heart, Gleny Rae Virus is a multi instrumentalist and educator who believes that music can build community and improve lives. She plays gigs from outback shearing sheds and rodeos to international showcases in Nashville Tennessee and Austin Texas.
Armed with a fiddle, accordion and a irreverent sense of humour, she performs and records with numerous Australian country roots bands when not busy with her own projects Gleny Rae Virus and her Playboys, The Junes and Daughters of the Rum Rebellion.
Gleny Rae brings a special vibrance and humour to the stage with her quirky original songs and lively interpretations of country, rockabilly and western swing classics.
Karl S Williams:
Karl emerged from the cane country of Northern New South Wales, steeped in swamp water and primitive music. His songs are a distillation of life, love and the human condition; a kind of folk, soul, blues but not as you know it.
With a weaponised voice that can soar, moan and ache with the best of them, he writes timeless music, rooted in tradition but also firmly conversant with the present. His show is frequently referred to as a spiritual experience – delivered with a visceral conviction that leaves audiences profoundly moved.
He has toured extensively in Australia including festivals such as Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival, Dark Mofo, Panama, Queenscliff and Festival of The Sun.
