Faith i Branko Quartet (EU) Wednesday February 28th 2018 7PM

$25.00

From a foundation of ‘Serbian-Roma’ music, Faith and Branko Ristic have created a style that draws from both of their musical heritages and expresses their unique personal connection. These styles form a performance that is joyous, passionate, boisterous, fiery and  spirited.

Faith and Branko form the core of their high-energy live concerts, combining the accordion, violin, effects pedal and tabor pipe to take the audience on a journey from melancholy Roma violin laments to storming ‘kolos’ ( folk dances) and explorations into jazz improvisation, swing, Gypsy Rumba and Turkish and Indian influenced violin solos.

Recent performances highlights include The Royal Festival Hall, London, the Edinburgh Festival and Glastonbury. Their award winning album ‘Gypsy Lover’ is 11th in the European World Music Charts.

“Musically a delight” The Guardian

“Moving & Virtuosic” BBC Radio 3

“Gypsy Lover is a musical delight and a true feast for the ears” Riverboat Records

“As for the music itself: well, wild is probably the closest word that sums it up….And so on it goes, each track more intense than the next, apart from the few obligatory tortured torch songs, all of which will break your heart and make you cry” Clyclic Defrost Review, Lach Walter, Australia
